Hello... For some reason some of my mini dv tapes are playing in a fast forward mode. I dont have the camera that these were recorded with. How can I get these tapes to stop playing in FF in the camera that I have now? It has to be a camera problem because the only tapes that play in the fast forward mode in my newer camera are the tapes from the old camera that I no longer have. I did try changing the SP and LP still no luck.

I think playing a DVCAM tape in a MiniDV camcorder would result in it playing in slo mo, not fast forward - DVCAM records at a higher tape speed. It sounds like the tapes have been recorded in LP mode, but since that's not standard I guess your new camcorder doesn't know what to make of it.

Hmmm... I really dont know. However, see if you can borrow a MiniDV camcorder somewhere, say a friend, and port it over to your computer or a recording medium like a VHS or DVD recorder, so you have a backup of it somewhere. Now, erase the tapes using the new camcorder that you have.

But, if you can try and evade recording on LP mode from now one. LP mode is awful - mono sound and dropped frames! Ewww....

sounds like you recorded in LP and are playing back in SP. You need the cam you originally recorded your tape on to fix this.

No you won't be able to. The VHS adapter is for VHS-C tapes. whether you by some ability stumbled on a thank you to get a miniDV tape right into a VHS adapter, you nevertheless ought to reprogram the VCR to understand the miniDV tape. Video stored to miniDV is stored in a distinct format than video stored to VHS-C. you purely have 3 thoughts. The quickest is to connect the camcorder directly to the television via ability of the cord with the three RCA plugs (yellow, white, pink). in the experience that your television is older and does not have those RCA connections (and purely a cable connection), you are able to connect on your camcorder on your VCR, DVD participant, and on occasion your cable container and deliver the video in that way. you additionally can bypass to Wal-Mart and purchase an RF adapter/modulator which will convert RCA enter to cable. The camcorder will then grow to be the VCR for the miniDV tape. you additionally can connect the camcorder to a VCR or a console DVD burner with the comparable cord. you are able to then replica the action picture to a DVD or to a VCR. there will be no loss of high quality of the action picture on DVD. there will be some loss of high quality on VHS tape, even though it basically isn't plenty that it particularly is a controversy. The third determination is somewhat longer yet would be greater consumer friendly interior the long-term. you will could desire to connect the camcorder to a working laptop or pc via ability of Firewire. you are able to then seize the video on your pc with residing house windows action picture Maker or iMovie. The video can then be edited and stored. then you certainly can use a DVD burning application alongside with iDVD to burn your action picture to a DVD-R. The DVD-R can then be used to view the action picture at any time. in case you're able to be able to desire to make modifications interior the destiny, you are able to regulate the edits and then re-export a clean action picture.

the only thing i can think of is your new camera is a DVcam, which runs at a faster speed than miniDV but uses the same tape.
