Question:
I'm having trouble with digital video file formats when burning to dvd, can anyone help?

I shot a long video in 1440x1080 60i, the files are .mts files and I edited them in native form on Corel Video Studio Pro X2. Now I have been trying to convert them into a format that will fit onto a dvd. The problem is I converted to Mpeg-2 files with a frame based output instead of the interlacing. I was hoping this would get rid of any ripping our mouse teeth from the interlaced video, however on certain high action sections of my video it has caused jumping. I just want to burn this project onto a dvd in the highest quality possible and with as little ripping or jumping as possible. can anyone tell me what file format I should be converting to, or how I should go about getting this project onto dvd? btw the size is not so much the issue as the quality.

I didn't understand some of your question - mainly the specifics of how you've done the conversion to MPEG-2. DVD compliant MPEG-2 is a narrower spec than MPEG-2, for instance there are restrictions on the maximum and minimum bit rates you can use, and the GoP structure. I think your best option is to use a rendering template for DVD and then either use a high, fixed bitrate (the output may be too big) or play with the variable rate parameters to see what gives the best results. If you experiment with a couple of clips with lots of action and / or lighting changes it'll give you some idea of the minimum bit rates you can use for those sections.

I don't understand your question clearly, but if you want to burn your 1440x1080 60i mts file onto a dvd to play on regular dvd player without ripping or jumping, you need to use a right software to convert and burn your 1440x1080 60i mts file to a standard video dvd, because regular dvd players only reocgnize standard video dvd well, can't recognize mts files, and standard video dvd only support 720x480(ntsc) or 720x576(pal) video resolution highest, don't support 1440x1080 resolution, so you can't keep 1440x1080 resolution when convert and burn your mts video file to standard video DVD, right software will auto reduce the video resolution to fit the regular DVD player requirement, so if your dvd player just be a regular DVD player, you have to accept the 720x480(ntsc) or 720x576(pal) resolution, or if your dvd player support divx or xvid, you can convert your 1440x1080 60i mts file to 1440x1080 resolution divx dvd or xvid dvd that can be played well on the Divx or Xvid Certified dvd players, you can follow me to use RZ DVD Creator, it can convert any video files to standard video dvd or divx dvd or xvid dvd, and burn to any dvd disc(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), easy to use, insert a blank dvd disc into dvd burner drive, then run RZ DVD Creator, select the dvd drive as the target folder, drag or drop your 1440x1080 60i mts file into the software, select divx-dvd or xvid-dvd as target format, press the START button, you will get a divx dvd or xvid dvd from your mts video files, you can play the burned divx/xvid dvd on the Divx or Xvid Certified dvd players without losing any quality, or if you want to burn a standard video dvd, you just need to select video dvd as target format, press the START button, you will get a standard video dvd, you can play the burned standard video dvd on any dvd players without ripping and jumping. You can yahoo or google search RZ DVD Creator and download it, easy to use, hope it can help you.
