.LINK®* DV Interface (IEEE 1394) Allows high speed bi-directional digital communication between two devices equipped with a IEEE 1394 interface, including camcorders, digital VTRs, capture cards, and PCs.
===
Use a Vista compatible PC..with a IEEE1394-PORT..
..or a XP PC..use a PCI expansion Card(IEEE1394)..
You might need a optional software--I suggest Roxio software..
===
The IEEE1394 PORT--is known as High Speed/..its been specifically developed for digital video camcorders..
===
Your Upload File should be DV-avi..stay in that format(its the BEST-editing File)..
Software is used to create a DVD-video..that would be a MPEG-2 file rendered from your DV-avi file..
===
Your Camcorder is a DV-tape format camera..that creates a Large File called DV..
..when you upload the DV-tape via a Firewire PORT(IEEE1394)--the PC creates a DV-avi File(still Large File)..large file video is the BEST-quality for your video projects..its the best for editing your video file..
===
How to get the camera to be recognized by the computer..??
1./Make sure the camera is POWERED-OFF..
2./And the DV-tape has been re-winded..completly..
3./Remove the Li-ion Battery..
4./Use the AC-adapter(supplied)..for your PC..connection upload..
5./Now connect the Camcorder to the PC..useing the Firewire cable--
6./Turn the PC..ON..and let the computer fully load its drivers(about 10-20 minutes)..
7./Now Power-ON the Camcorder(choose-the-PLAY-setting)..
8./The PC will recognize the camera--even showing its Model Name/let that fully finish..
9./If the UPLOAD Tool--is on your Desktop..Close It..and turn the camcorder-OFF..
10./Wait about 2-minutes..and turn the camcorder--Back-ON..
11./The Upload Tool should re-appear..make your selections for the upload process..check the Location for the FILE..be sure and choose/DV-avi/
12./OK..your camcorder should be uploading(up-port)..
===
The best process is to just let your total project upload and then edit it accordingly..Don't STOP--the upload process..because you have 2-projects on the same DV-tape..just upload the full file on the DV-tape..
===
Then you can edit the file useing Movie Maker..
..which took me about 30-days to learn..
Always SAVE--in DV-avi/..the rest is experiance..[end]
