Hey everybody~ I have a JVC video camera HD 300~ and I wanted to make all the videos I recorded into a DVD which can be watched on the TV. I burnt the AVCHD files to a disk and the TV wouldn't play it. So I figured I need to convert the file types? But how?
The cam corder came with a CD - if i installed that, would that help?
Thanks

DVDs need more than just the right video format (DVD compliant MPEG-2), they also need the right file and folder names, some additional information about the DVD and they have to be burned in the right disk format! DVD Flick is a free app that will do all the work for you, and it's free. The menus aren't up to much, but you can't argue with the price!

I think I know the reason why your burned dvd can't be watched on the TV through a dvd player, because you just burned a data dvd from your recorded AVCHD file(directly burn the recorded AVCHD files onto a dvd disc without convert to the right video dvd format), you should note, most dvd players only recognize video dvd format well, can't recognize data dvd, so if you want to play the burned dvd on dvd player, you need to use a right software to convert the recorded AVCHD files to video dvd format then burn onto DVD, to do that well, you can follow me to use RZ DVD Creator, it can convert any formats video files to video dvd format and burn to any dvd disc(DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), such as convert the recorded AVCHD files to video dvd format and burn onto a DVD disc, easy to use, insert a dvd disc into your computer dvd burner drive, run RZ DVD Creator, select the dvd burner drive as the target folder, drag and drop the recorded AVCHD files into the software, then press the START button, you will get a right video dvd, and then you can watch the burned video dvd well on TV through your dvd player, you can yahoo or google search RZ DVD Creator and download it, I think it will help you.

DVD format is VOB. It contains two folders Video_TS and Audio_TS, you have to convert your AVCHD video to DVD compatible video at first, otherwise regular DVD player can not read and play it. If you don't know how to burn a playable DVD, I think this DVD Creator would help you a lot. I always use it to convert and burn movie to DVD to play on my home TV, it's easy to use and works pretty well, if you are interested in it, here is a step by step guide about how to use it.
