why does my camera say "This card can not be read" while i'm recording?

my camera is Nikon Coolpix and i dont use it very often. i just can record for about 5 or 6 seconds then the camera stops recording and say "this card cannot be read". is there something wrong with the video mode or the memory card? can you guys tell me how to fix it? thankyou

Do you have another card? If so, try that one and see if it is giving you the same error. If it does not, then you may want to back up all the info from your card and try to reformat it.

you are using too slow a card for continuous recording. the 6 seconds is just using the internal memory of the camera as a buffer. a class 2 card works for still photography, but you need a class 6 card for video.

The card needs to be reformatted - do it in the camera, it's got a glitch. And it could be that the card isn't fast enough to record at the speed of your camera - if this is an older card, you may want to get a new one, with more memory.

How big is the card? Are you sure you are recording to the card and not the internal memory (if your camera has internal memory)?

ok examine the area of your SD Card, dealing with Label Up there could be somewhat gray slider ingredient, or ledge thingy it would say lock on the backside of it, so u wanna verify the SD Card slide gray ingredient ledge ingredient is slid up the place it would be unlocked, which might advise it particularly isn't any longer next to the LOCK words
