How to record/capture/edit/mix multiple cameras in a live broadcast with a portable setup?

I have 4 Canon HV20 HD camcorders and a 17" MacBook Pro with Final Cut Pro. What additional equipment and/or software do I need to be able to record each channel (from post processing) and mix for a live event from multiple view angles and display it on a projector. Also it needs to be portable so equipment should be Firewire or USB.

if you intend to be HD then there is a real problem with using consumer cameras. there is no way to output a live HD feed by cables. Broadcast cameras have SDI outputs at 2 GBPS and are genlocked so that the feeds are synchronous to the switching point. No computer can handle that data rate, let alone 4 inputs simultaneously that are running wild. If you thought that this would be simple, then think again.



the Canon XL H1S does have genlock and SDI output at $9000 each. Panasonic

AV-HS400A Compact Live Multi-Format SD/HD-SDI Switcher is $9600 at B&H. Datavideo

HDR-200 HD/SD SDI Hard Drive Recorder is $3600. Thats over $49000 without projector. SDI is distributed over BNC connected coax, so that will save you some money over the same lengths of Firewire.
