I am trying to edit a 35 minute 2.8GB .MOV file in windows live movie maker. It is 60fps at 1280x720.
How can I get windows live movie maker to prepare it faster? Can i turn on GPU acceleration or something? If you can use GPU acceleration, I have a radeon 5450

I'm not sure what you mean by "preparing" video but the GPU isn't involved with rendering video - it's CPU only.

There's really nothing you can do to make the program faster. Editing a video is hard work for your computer.

However, there's a different program that can do it quicker, if you are annoyed enough with the wait to try it. It's called vReveal, and it borrows additional memory from your graphic card. I have it, and when I'm fixing my videos it applies the enhancements in real time, on a split screen. Youtube is full of examples, like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4jGDaTJAm0&feature=related

You can dowload it here http://www.vreveal.com/share

It's about 40MB

Good luck!

If you're on Windows 7 try running in XP SP3 compatibility. On my computer, preparing a 30second teaser clip went from sudden shutdown (probably CPU overload) to less than a minute for the finished product.
